On 29th January, Phoenix Martial Arts had the privilege of delivering an engaging Growth Mindset Enrichment Day at Dorcan Academy School. The event featured four 1-hour sessions, reaching approximately 190 Year 8 students, aimed at fostering a positive mindset through martial arts.
Throughout the day, students participated in a variety of activities, including exercises, sequences, and kicking drills. They particularly enjoyed the practical self-defence demonstrations, especially when Chief Instructor Mr. Newman showcased techniques on the attending teachers.
The day was expertly organized by Club Instructor Mr. Lane, with valuable assistance from Phoenix members Logan Rutherford, Jasmine Roux-Nel, and Kelsey Lane, who are also students at Dorcan Academy. Their involvement helped ensure the smooth running of the sessions and provided relatable role models for the participating students.
The enrichment day marked Phoenix Martial Arts’ second year collaborating with Dorcan Academy, and it was gratifying to see the pupils engaged and enthusiastic about trying a new activity. The success of the event highlights the positive impact of martial arts in promoting a growth mindset and broadening students’ horizons.
We are already looking forward to returning next year to continue this beneficial program. For more information on our martial arts programs in Swindon, including children’s martial arts and confidence-building classes, visit the Phoenix Martial Arts website or contact us today.
